Saints of the Week

Each week, the Church honors holy men and women whose lives point us to Christ. As we prepare for the week ahead, let’s draw inspiration from these saints on the Catholic calendar, each offering grace and guidance in our lives today.

Week of July 20–26

🗓 Sunday, July 20 – St. Apollinaris
A first-century bishop and missionary sent by St. Peter, Apollinaris preached the Gospel in Ravenna and endured beatings and exile before his martyrdom.

🗓 Monday, July 21 – St. Lawrence of Brindisi
A brilliant Capuchin Franciscan and Doctor of the Church, Lawrence preached in multiple languages, converted thousands, and served as a diplomat for peace in 17th-century Europe.

🗓 Tuesday, July 22 – St. Mary Magdalene
The faithful follower who stood at the Cross and was the first to witness the Resurrection.

🗓 Wednesday, July 23 – St. Bridget of Sweden
Wife, mother of eight, mystic, and foundress of the Bridgettine Order, she received visions of Christ’s Passion and urged reform within the Church.

🗓 Thursday, July 24 – St. Sharbel Makhluf
A Maronite monk and priest in 19th-century Lebanon, Sharbel lived as a hermit and became known for miraculous healings and a deep devotion to the Eucharist.

🗓 Friday, July 25 – St. James the Greater
One of the Twelve Apostles and the brother of St. John, James was the first apostle to be martyred and is the namesake of the Camino de Santiago.

🗓 Saturday, July 26 – Sts. Joachim & Anne
The parents of the Blessed Virgin Mary and grandparents of Jesus, honored for their quiet holiness and essential role in salvation history.
