The Church now moves beyond the Octave of Easter, but the joy of the Resurrection continues throughout the entire Easter season. These weeks call us to live what we have celebrated—to walk as people truly changed by the risen Christ.
🗓 Sunday, April 12 – Divine Mercy Sunday Established for the universal Church by Pope St. John Paul II, this feast emphasizes the infinite mercy of God poured out through the Passion and Resurrection. Christ’s wounds, still visible after the Resurrection, are the source of that mercy. “Jesus, I trust in You” becomes the simple and profound response of the faithful.
🗓 Monday, April 13 – St. Martin I, Pope and Martyr Pope St. Martin I defended the truth of Christ’s two wills—human and divine—against imperial pressure. For this, he was arrested, exiled, and ultimately died a martyr. His courage reminds us that fidelity to Christ often comes at great cost.
🗓 Tuesday, April 14 – St. Lydwine of Schiedam, Virgin After a severe injury in youth, St. Lydwine endured decades of suffering, offering her pain in union with Christ. Mystical experiences deepened her faith, and many were drawn to conversion through her witness. Her life reflects the redemptive value of suffering in the light of the Resurrection.
🗓 Wednesday, April 15 – St. Caesar de Bus, Priest Founder of the Fathers of Christian Doctrine, St. Caesar dedicated himself to teaching the faith clearly and faithfully. At a time of confusion, he worked to restore sound catechesis. His mission echoes the Church’s ongoing call to form minds in truth.
🗓 Thursday, April 16 – St. Bernadette Soubirous, Virgin The humble visionary of Lourdes, St. Bernadette faithfully relayed Our Lady’s message of repentance and prayer. She lived the rest of her life in obscurity and humility. Her simplicity reflects the openness needed to receive God’s grace.
🗓 Friday, April 17 – St. Simeon of Seleucia, Bishop and Martyr St. Simeon, bishop of Seleucia-Ctesiphon, suffered martyrdom during the persecutions under the Persian king Shapur II. Refusing to renounce Christ, he remained steadfast even unto death, along with many of his clergy. His witness reminds us that the Resurrection gives strength to endure even the fiercest trials.
🗓 Saturday, April 18 – St. Galdinus, Archbishop of Milan and Cardinal A firm defender of the Church during the conflicts of his time, St. Galdinus opposed heresy and worked to restore order and charity in his diocese. Known for his care for the poor, he preached tirelessly until his death. His life reflects both pastoral zeal and unwavering fidelity to the truth.
